Well, this is quite interesting. We’ve received an invite for an event on April 25, for a the grand launch of the Honor brand in the Philippines through the e-commerce platform, Shopee. In case you don’t know, Honor is Huawei’s sub-brand.

In fact, a Facebook page has already been setup for the brand, and a post that seems to hint on the first device that they will be bringing to the country, the Honor 9 Lite.

Honor 9 Lite Specs:

  • 2.36GHz Kirin 659 octa-core processor
  • 3GB/4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB of storage expandable via microSD card (Up to 256GB)
  • 5.65-inch 18:9 IPS LCD  FHD+ display
  • Dual 13MP + 2MP rear cameras, PDAF
  • Dual 13MP + 2MP front cameras
  • Fingerprint Sensor, Accelerometer, Compass, Proximity Sensor
  • EMUI 8.0 on top of Android 8.0 Oreo
  • 3,000mAh battery

Yes. I know. The specs of the Honor 9 Lite are just as similar to the Nova 2i. There are notable differences though, such as the  smaller battery and display, the glossy back panel, the 13MP + 2MP rear cameras compared to the 2i’s 16MP + 2MP, and the positioning of the dual rear cameras. Given all that, we can expect this to be more or less at the same price point, but we’ll see.
