Smart Wifi has recently signed a partnership with Google, with an aim of bringing free, fast, and reliable Internet connectivity to more Filipinos.

Powered by Smart Wifi’s nationwide infrastructure, the partnership aims to give more citizens access to connectivity, as the number of its Wifi hubs throughout the country increases.

“All our efforts are driven primarily by our mission to provide universal access to information.”

– David Shapiro, Google Next Billion Users Chief Business Officer

To date, over 63% of Filipinos are said to have access to the Internet, and the partnership aims to see growth in these numbers for the Philippines to become a global player.

As one of the most active social media users in the world, access to free Wi-Fi in the Philippines is deemed critical to the overall climate of the global economy. A study by the World Bank even indicates that GDP growth may be correlated to increased use of the Internet.
