Yes, you’ve read that right. The rumors which were pointing at a 5-camera device by Nokia were all true, it seems. But what’s even more amazing is that the new Nokia 9 PureView is even more than that.

The Nokia 9 PureView sports a dual-glass and metal frame construction along, along with an IP67 certification for water and dust resistance. Its 5.99-inch QHD+ P-OLED display is also HDR10 compliant, and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 845, an odd choice, considering the 855 is already available. There’s 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner along with AI-assisted Face Unlock.

Now, let’s talk about those cameras. There are five 12MP sensors at the back of the device, two RGB and three monochrome. There’s also a ToF camera for better depth readings. So how exactly do they work? well, the phone basically combines images from all 5 12MP cameras into a single image with a dynamic range of up to 12.4 stops of difference in light.

Its 20MP front camera supports Tetracell pixel binning, which basically involves combining four adjacent pixels to create a 5MP image with significantly less noise in low light situations.

What that basically means is that you get superb depth quality, and dynamic range. The phone also supports RAW image editing using the free mobile version of Adobe Lightroom, which can be installed during initial setup. For those who prefer to tweak the individual elements of each shot, it also offers manual controls. For video recording, the phone supports up to 4K HDR 30fps.

The Nokia 9 PureView runs on Android One (Pie), which means you get quick and timely updates. It packs a 3,320mAh power pack, and supports Quick Charge 3, USB Power Delivery and 10W wireless charging. Issue or not, it doesn’t have a headphone jack, so you’ll have to rely on that dongle, or just go for wireless headphones.

The Nokia 9 PureView will only have one color – Midnight Blue. It will retail for $699 (around PhP36,300), more affordable than a number of other flagships. HMD also says that the device will have a very limited production run, though they didn’t mention exactly how many will be made.
