After the ASUS Launch Event in Taiwan for Computex 2019, we and a few other media friends were given some time to talk to some of the top hats from ASUS, and were given the opportunity to ask them questions about where the company was headed, and about the products that they’ve launched and are planning to launch.
I was joined by John Nieves of Unbox.ph, BossMac Suba of Back2Gaming and Leo Bien Durana of TechPorn, three of the biggest authorities when it comes to tech reviews in the Philippines.
We were joined by Jackie Hsu, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of ASUS’ Worldwide Sales for the Open Platform Business Group, Albert Chang, General Manager for Motherboard and Server Business Unit, Sharon Pan, Division Director of Product Marketing Division, Motherboard Business Unit, James Lee, Deputy Division Director, Product Management Division, Display Business Unit.
We asked them three questions – The first being, is ASUS working on an in-ear headphone? because seeing the trend that the company is going for, most of the headphones are over ear types, and knowing that they are also catering to the non-gamer audio geeks, it makes sense if they make.
The answer they gave me, was yes, and it wasn’t just in the works, but already a working product as we found out the next day. Meet the ROG Cetra, which was supposedly showcased at Gamescom, wherein it was still in its demo stage.
As for monitors, there are so many brands right now, that offer affordable monitors with high refresh rates, and we haven’t seen anything from ASUS or ROG at this price range for a while now (Remember the VC239H?). The answer we got wasn’t very direct, but it implies that the company is focusing more on quality. Still, we do hope they release another affordable hit.
The last question was about Aura Sync. You see, they have a bunch of software that you can download to control your RGB lighting effects and sync them with other devices. There’s AURA, AURA Core, AURA (Graphics Card) and so on. For laptops, there’s the new Armoury Crate. Are they working on just having one single software to do it all?
The answer is yes. Armoury Crate will be the only software that you’ll need to control your lighting effects and sync all of your compatible devices regardless of whether you’re on a laptop or a desktop, or maybe even a mobile device.
So there you have, it. A quick glance at what ASUS is focusing on, and where it’s headed. We hope to see more good quality products from the company in the coming years.
