We wrote about FUJIFILM’s hybrid instant camera, the instax mini LiPlay, some time ago. Yesterday, the device finally made its official debut in the Philippines in an exclusive media launch in BGC, Taguig City.

Yet, it’s packed with some really cool features, such as being able to “add” sound to your printouts in the form of a QR code, a Direct Print function that lets print photos from your phone or instax film, and can be controlled using a smartphone via its remote function.

You get to choose from a bunch of filters as well as frames to add a more artsy effect to your photos. It also allows you to enable or disable the flash, set the brightness, and more.

instax mini liplay launch 66Adding sound to your photos is as simple as pressing the dedicated button in front of the camera to initiate a recording. You’re limited to only 10 seconds at most, but I do think that’s enough to say a short greeting or that sweet message.

instax mini liplay launch 76It’s equipped with a non-removable Lithium-ion battery that can accommodate 100 prints before having to be recharged via a microUSB port. Charging the camera takes around 2 to 3 hours. You can also assign effects to three dedicated buttons, so you can instantly add effects without having to scroll through the menus.

instax mini liplay launch 21On top of it all, the instax mini LiPlay comes in three colors – Stone White, which has a rough stone-like surface that’s achieved using a special coating, Elegant Black, which utilizes an embossed finish on the camera surface, and Blush Gold, which offers an elegant and luxurious feel.
