A trade deal between the United States and China may just be what Huawei needs to get the trade ban lifted.
It has been a couple of months now since the American Department of Commerce added Chinese tech company, Huawei Technologies Co. to the Entity List. The move banned Huawei from trading with American companies, among these included Google and chipmaker Micron.
Things may just turn around after a report mentions that US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross is optimistic that both countries would reach a ‘Phase One’ trade deal. He also mentioned that Licenses would be coming “very shortly” for American companies (which Google is a part of), allowing them to continue doing business with Huawei.
We have yet to see the true effect of the blacklist with the company’s stockpile in anticipation of the ban and the Huawei Mate 30 series being the first major smartphone from the company to not carry Google apps and services. We did however, see the announcement of HarmonyOS.
The terms for the trade deal between the U.S. and China are yet to be agreed on but should it fall into the place, it would have China increase purchases of U.S. agriculture and the US remove the latest tariffs on Chinese goods including smartphones.
We may see a rise in the sale of the already impressive Huawei Mate 30 series, if the Huawei ban gets lifted, because of the return of Google apps and services.
