Final Fantasy 7 Remake is scheduled to release in about a month and just this week, a playable demo just dropped that gave us a taste of what to expect, even a “Secret Ending” that not everyone may have known!
It’s good. Very good. And above all that, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is going to be HUGE. Apart from spanning 2 discs and a 100+GB install size, co-director Tetsuya Nomura sheds some clarity into just how big the actual game is.
In an interview with Famitsu (translations by Dualshockers), Nomura had this to say about the new events that we’ll be able to see in the game.
“I know many are worried since the Remake project is in multiple games, and the first game only depicts Midgar. Don’t worry. It’s a highly dense game, and it doesn’t end after a few hours like the Midgar part in the original. There are many new events in the main story. Like a scene where you end up visiting Jessie’s parents, eating dinner. Each member of Avalanche is much more detailed compared to the original game, with new events to boot. By the time players leave Midgar, I’m sure they’ll be satisfied.”
Nomura also highlighted that they even had to cut some content out just because the game would have already been too big and will not meet the release date, pointing out that the sidequest content in the game will be as big as the main story.
“We made the sidequest content to be as big as the main story. At the beginning, the development team readied even more content, but we wouldn’t have been able to do everything without cutting corners, so we prioritized quality. We wouldn’t have been able to finish the game otherwise. Despite that, the game is quite big, there are many places you can visit, and you can even move around using vehicles at some points.”
Judging from the statements alone, the first installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be nothing short of breathtaking and will be filled with enough content to call it a game of its own. Of course, the story will continue across the next few releases but the experience of this first release should leave us satisfied.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is scheduled to release on April 10 and if you haven’t pre-ordered yet, check out what’s in store for you if you do!
