The highly popular benchmarking app, AnTuTu and all its apps – AnTuTu Benchmark, AnTuTu 3D Bench, and AITUTU Benchmark have all been deleted from the Google Play Store.

Global Marketing Manager of AnTuTu, Amelie Liu, has reportedly gotten in contact with Gizchina regarding the deletions. This is to address the previous report from the publication.

In a nutshell, it was believed that AnTuTu was under Cheetah Mobile, a Chinese app development company after it was found that the privacy website led to the website of the latter. Cheetah Mobile is banned from the Play Store after accusations of advertising fraud and violations of privacy policies.

Liu has clarified this point saying, “Cheetah Mobile invested in us in around 2014 and became one of our shareholders since then. However, we still retain a considerable account of shares and Independent operation of the company as well as our own independent Google Play account.” She added, “Cheetah Mobile has never touched our Google Play account, and AnTuTu has not done any promotion of Cheetah Mobile’s software.

AnTuTu, according to Liu, believes that Google misjudged because the company purchased and used the legal services from Cheetah Mobile. The same reason why clicking the privacy link led to the website of Cheetah Mobile.

“This is what we are working on, including changing legal suppliers,” Liu said.

“We hope that Google can examine Antutu’s account carefully and finally resolve this misunderstanding as soon as possible,” she concludes.

Until AnTuTu clears things with Google, users will have to use an APK in order to benchmark devices.
