Today, we’re taking a look at the OPPO Reno3, a device designed for those who value a good combination of style and function, those who create memories through content to share with their friends. It’s a phone designed for today’s young professional.

Reno3 (3)Like its Pro variant, the Reno3 goes back to a more traditional design with its notched display along with a quad-camera module that protrudes.

Reno3 (8)It also sports the same glossy metallic finish, along with the OPPO branding at the bottom. As for buttons, you get the volume rocker and SIM slot on the left, and the power button on the right.

Reno3 (24)It also uses a USB-C port, placed with a speaker, microphone, and a headphone jack at the bottom.

Reno3 (7)It has a slightly smaller 6.4-inch FullHD+ display. Quality-wise, colors are properly saturated, brightness is ample, and icons showcase a good level of detail.

Reno3 (19)Under the hood is the Helio P90 SoC, backed by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Like the Pro variant, it’s also able to run CoD Mobile at High + High FPS setting. We did encounter an issue wherein some elements didn’t look the way they’re supposed to, but perhaps that has more to do with optimization.

Reno3 (11)The quad-camera system on the Reno3 is composed of a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, a 13MP telephoto lens, and a 2MP monochrome sensor.

It’s also able to detect edges well, which in turn results in an accurate separation of background and subject. The depth of field effect it generates looks refined, at least for most instances.

Reno3 Camera Sample (3)Its 44MP selfie camera is tucked in a notch and outputs photos with great detail and texture. Exposure levels are also well-managed.

For content creators who prioritize video content, Reno3 can also record videos at 4K 30fps.

It also boasts Ultra Steady Video 2.0 and Ultra Steady Pro, with the limitation that both can only be used for 1080p 60fps videos at most.

For your reference, here’s a sample of a video taken with Ultra Steady Pro. You’ll notice that the phone is indeed able to eliminate most of the shakes.

Reno3 (21)Like the Pro variant, Reno3 also runs on ColorOS 7, which introduces features like a System-Wide Dark Mode, along with a more minimalist look. Features like Game Space and the very useful assistive sidebar are still present. UI performance gets high marks for smoothness and fluidity.

Reno3 (22)Lastly, Reno3 houses a 4,025mAh battery with support for VOOC 4.0 Flash Charging.
