In its aim of creating new and more creative ways for people to connect with each other, especially in this time of crisis, Facebook announced a new feature – Messenger Rooms.
Messenger Rooms allow users to spend quality time with friends, loved ones, and those who share the same interest. You can create your room straight out of messenger or on Facebook, and invite anyone to join. That includes those who don’t have an account.
As for capacity, Facebook says that soon, a Room will be able to accommodate up to 50 people. Best of all, there’s no time limit.
As part of seamlessly integrating the feature into the existing platform, you’ll be able to create and share rooms on Facebook via your news feed, groups, and events. Soon, the ability to create rooms will also be available from Instagram, WhatsApp, and Portal.
Rooms that are open to you will be visible on your feed. When you’re invited to a room, you’ll be able to join using a phone or a computer. With Messenger, you’ll even be able to play with AR effects for a more fun-filled discussion.
When creating a room, you’ll be able to select who can see and join it. For added privacy and control, you’ll be able to lock a room, or even dismiss people from the call.
Messenger Rooms is coming to select countries this week, and to the rest of the world in the coming weeks.
