Razer has just announced its THX-certified headphones – the Razer Opus. Along with the theater-life certification, it also features noise-cancellation but more surprising a very sleek non-Razer design.

The company is known for its RGB lighting, neon-colored peripherals, and its snake logo, the Opus is unique in its design being all black and the logo in text. In addition, it uses plush leatherette for its earcups and headband cushion.

The Razer Opus is said to last 25 hours of playback with active cancellation on in one charge. It packs 40mm drivers, Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity, and support for AAC, aptX, A2DP, AVRCP, and HFP codecs. If Bluetooth is not your thing, the Opus can also be connected via a 3.5mm headphone cable. Other features include wear detection which plays or pauses the audio.

It uses four microphones with one on the inside and the outside in each earcup. These are used in its ‘Advanced Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation’

The headphones were done in collaboration with THX. “The result is a high-performance wireless headphone that delivers a rich, balanced soundstage, clear vocals, and deep impactful bass optimized for music, games, and movies,” said Peter Vasay, Head of THX Certification.
