Customized widgets on the Home Screen and the App Library

One of the major features of iOS 14 is a change to widgets and the Home Screen. Widgets can now be pinned at varying sizes on any Home Screen page. In addition, pages in the Home Screen can now be hidden making it more streamlined and customized to your needs. The Apps are all found in the App Library, which if you’re a former Android user looks like Apple’s version of the app drawer. The App Library can be found on the rightmost of the Home Screen and they’re already organized in folders.

Another major feature is Picture-in-Picture support which allows you to watch a video or take a FaceTime call while using other apps. Apple also made FaceTime and phone calls more compact which further adds to the ability to multitask.

Siri has also gotten a few updates in iOS 14 which include a less intrusive UI when you call her, more facts, and a translation feature which includes voice and text.

The Messages app has also been improved with features like pinning conversations, inline replies, and even more emojis.

There are many more features that may not be rolled out in the Philippines like cycling and electric vehicle support in the Map app and CarPlay. CarPlay makes your iPhone your car key starting with the new 2021 BMW 5 series. It works through NFC to unlock the car and so much more.

The update to Maps includes cycling support. App Clip is a quick way to get apps when needed.

Another feature that we may or may not see is App Clips which is a quick way to get certain apps through an Apple-designed App Clip code or through NFC tags, QR codes, or through Messages and Safari. App Clip is said to come in handy when renting a scooter or maybe purchasing a cup of coffee.

The developer version of iOS 14 is now available while the public beta will arrive next month. iPhone 6s users and later will receive the software features in Fall 2020.
