MediaTek has just announced the Dimensity 800U, the third chipset in the Dimensity 800-series joining the Dimensity 800 and 820 chips.
It is a more affordable version of the Dimensity 800 but offers an integrated 5G modem, dual 5G SIM support, and higher CPU speeds. The new chip is built with the same TSMC 7nm process. It also comes with dual Voice over New Radio (VoNR) and up to dual 5G carrier aggregation (2CC 5G-CA).
The two Cortex-A76 cores have also been boosted to 2.4GHz clock speed, compared to the 2.0GHz clock speed of the Dimensity 800. The new SoC also has the same six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz of the 800. In the graphics department, the new chipset comes with a Mali-G57 MC3, while the storage has been upgraded to UFS 2.2.
The Dimensity 800U supports up to 64MP cameras with 4K video recording at 30 fps as well as FHD+ panels with up to 120Hz refresh rates.
