The new LG Wing has finally debuted as the company’s latest smartphone with a unique swiveling design.
The LG Wing is the first device released under the company’s Explorer Project that aims to breathe new life in smartphone design. The project is about taking risks and bringing practical innovations. Lg also revealed it will partner with a variety of companies including Qualcomm, search engine Naver, and streaming platforms Tubi and Ficto.
The new device has a curved 6.8-inch P-OLED FHD+ main panel and a 3.9-inch G-OLED FHD+ resolution secondary screen. The screens themselves have a water repellent coating but the device has no official IP rating.
The LG Wing features a unique form factor once the main screen is popped out horizontally. This allows you to watch videos or play games while doing other things on the secondary screen.
The swivel design comes with a dual lock mechanism and a hydraulic damper that absorbs shock. This is said to last 200,000 swivels. The phone clocks in at 169.5×74.5×10.9mm and weigh in at 260g.
In the optics department, the Wing has a 32MP pop-up selfie camera and triple rear cameras – a 64MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide lens for swivel mode, and a 13MP ultrawide lens. It features a gimbal mode with a virtual joystick on the secondary screen.
Rounding out the specs is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage. It packs a 4000mAh battery with wireless charging support.
Pricing and availability are still to be announced.
