Apple has just announced the eighth generation iPad and the all-new iPad Air alongside two new Apple Watches today.
Eighth Generation iPad
The eighth-generation iPad refreshes the main iPad series with an A12 Bionic chip with the Neural Engine which is as first for the iPad. It comes in either 32GB or 128GB internal storage.
The new tablet features a 10.2-inch Retina display, along with advanced cameras and an all-day battery.
The A12 Bionic chip delivers a 40% faster CPU performance and twice the graphics capability. The Neural Engine offers next-level machine learning capabilities, which include motion tracking in augmented reality apps, enhanced photo editing, Siri performance, to name a few.
The tablet also supports gigabit-class LTE connectivity and Touch ID.
The eighth-generation iPad comes in space gray, silver, and gold. The Wi-Fi model starts at USD 329, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular model starts at USD 459.
New iPad Air
The new iPad Air packs the A14 Bionic chip, which is Apple’s most advanced chip. In addition, it will be available in 64GB and 256GB storage options.
The A14 Bionic chip is packed with 11.8 billion transistors for increased performance and power efficiency. It features a new 6-core design for a 40% CPU performance boost and a 4-core graphics architecture for 30% improved graphics.
The chip also includes a new 16-core Neural Engine that is twice as fast and capable of performing up to 11 trillion operations per second. This allows the iPad Air capable of editing 4K videos, play immersive games, or creating gorgeous works of art.
The iPad Air packs a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display. It features a 7MP front-facing FaceTime HD camera and the same 12MP rear camera in the iPad Pro which offers up to 4K video capture and higher resolution photos.
It also features stereo speakers in landscape mode making it better for watching videos or playing games. The new iPad Air also has a USB-C port for faster data transfer. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 and 60% faster LTE connectivity.
The new iPad Air is available in silver, space gray, rose gold, green, and sky blue. The Wi-Fi-only model starts at USD 599, while the Wi-Fi + Cellular variant starts at USD 729.
The new iPad devices are now available to order but will be available starting September 18.
