Samsung has just announced the first devices in the 2021 Galaxy A-series – the Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A02s.
Both the Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A02s are built around a 6.5-inch HD+ display and pack a 5000mAh battery with support for 15W charging. They will also be available starting next year.
Samsung Galaxy A12
The Galaxy A12 is the successor to the Galaxy A11 launched in March. It is slightly larger and introduces upgrades in the camera and battery. The 6.5-inch Infinity-V display houses an 8MP camera in the notch.
Around the back, the A12 has a 48MP primary lens, a 5MP ultrawide shooter, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro unit. This is all in a square camera module on the upper left side of the back of the phone.
The new A-series device is powered by an octa-core processor with CPU cores clocked at 2.3GHz and 1.8GHz. Despite not announcing which chipset, it is speculated to be the MediaTek Helio P35 SoC given the configuration.
The processor is backed by 3GB/4GB/6GB RAM and 32GB/64GB/128GB with expansion via microSD of up to 1TB.
The fingerprint scanner is found embedded in the power button on the right-hand side. It also features the Samsung Knox security platform.
The Galaxy A12 comes in Black, White, Blue, and Red colors. The base 3/32GB will go for EUR 179 while maxing it at EUR 6/128GB will cost you EUR 199. The phone will be available starting in January 2021.
Samsung Galaxy A02s
The Galaxy A02s, on the other hand, is an upgrade of the Galaxy A01 launched last December. It has a 5MP shooter tucked in the teardrop notch at the top of its 6.5-inch Infinity-V display.
Rounding out the cameras is a triple rear camera setup with a 13MP primary camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
It is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, which could likely be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450. This is backed by 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage with expansion available of up to 1TB via microSD card.
The Galaxy A02s will come in Black and White colors and will retail for EUR 150 starting February 2021.
