The most familiar company on the list is Xiaomi Corporation which now joins Huawei.
These companies were listed as “Communist Chinese military companies” that were operating directly or indirectly in the United States. The US DOD is determined to “highlight and counter the People’s Republic of China Military-Civil Fusion development strategy”.
Xiaomi overtook Apple to take the number three top smartphone maker globally according to Counterpoint Research and IDC which makes it even more interesting to see how the company responds.
However, with the Biden Administration coming in in a few days, the order could be overturned. We’ll just have to wait and see.
