YouTube has started rolling out YouTube Shorts in the US. Shorts is a new platform for short videos shot in portrait and the platform’s answer to TikTok.
Shorts is currently still in Beta but YouTube has been working on it for the past 12 months. Because it is still in Beta, not all American users will get it after updating the app. The stable build of the new feature is expected to be right around the corner though.
It was getting over 3.5 billion views while in early beta and it is expected to increase with the rollout making it available to more users. TikTok, in comparison, is reaching 1 billion monthly active users.
The update with YouTube Shorts can be found on APKMirror if you’re willing to sideload it but there’s no guarantee tthat you’ll get it because it also requires a server-side switch.
