Qualcomm has just unveiled the Snapdragon Sound platform for high-quality, low-latency wireless audio.
The platform includes the Snapdragon 800-series chipsets with FastConnect 6900 connectivity system for smartphones. For Bluetooth headphones and earphones, there are the QCC514x, QCC515x, and QCC3056 series Audio SoCs. They support aptX Adaptive, capable of delivering 24-bit 96 kHz audio with latency as low as 89ms.
For voice calls and teleconferencing, there’s the aptX Voice codec. The Snapdragon Sound platform also includes the Qualcomm Active Noise Cancelling technology.
The new platform has been designed to be resistant to interference from other Bluetooth or Wi-Fi for a reliable audio experience even in busy environments. The company designed the platform for an easy pairing experience for your wireless headsets out of the box.
Xiaomi and Audio-Technica are among the first companies to jump on the new platform. Qualcomm has also partnered with Amazon to compile a Snapdragon Sound playlist.
