According to the organization, Apple throttled the devices with recent iOS updates namely iOS 14.5, iOS 14.5.1, and iOS 14.6. The updates are said to have “significantly damaged consumer devices,” “drastically reduced processor speed,” and reduced battery life.

The OCU has written a letter to Apple to ask for the company to come up with a way to compensate users of affected models. The company could be taken to court if it doesn’t respond to the organization’s liking.

In 2017, Apple sent out an apology and dropped the price to replace certain iPhone batteries by 63%. Additionally, the company also settled a class-action lawsuit with each US member of the class entitled to approximately USD 25.
