Xiaomi has just debuted the Xiaomi Pad 5 and Pad 5 Pro alongside the Mix 4. The two new tablets are the company’s first tablets in three years.
Both tablets are built around an 11-inch display with 2560×1600 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. They support Dolby Vision and HDR10 and are said to have a peak brightness of 500 nits. The panels also have TrueTone technology which helps with adapting the colors and brightness to ambient light.
The duo supports a magnetic keyboard cover and the Xiaomi stylus. The stylus features two buttons on its side and offers a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It weighs 12.2g and is said to offer 8 hours of use.
They both run on MIUI that has been adapted for tablets and brings multi-screen support for over 300 apps.
Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro
The Pad 5 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 coupled with 6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB internal storage. Additionally, it comes in a Wi-Fi-only and a 5G version.
It boasts an 8600mAh battery with support for 67W fast-charging, the fastest ever in a tablet.
As far as optics go, the Wi-Fi-only Pro variant has a 13MP main camera and a 5MP ultra-wide camera at the back. Meanwhile, the option that supports 5G retains the ultra-wide camera but upgrades the main snapper to a 50MP sensor.
The Pro variant also comes with four Dolby Atmos-tuned speakers – two on top and two on the bottom.
Xiaomi Pad 5
The vanilla Pad 5 has a Snapdragon 860 at the helm coupled with 6GB RAM and 128/256GB internal storage. It only has a Wi-Fi-only option though.
The battery has been slightly bumped up to 8720mAh cell but the fast charging is lowered to 33W. The tablet has a lone 13MP main camera around the back.
Price and availability
The Pad 5 is available in three colors – Black, White, and Green, while the Pad 5 Pro comes in White and Black.
The Pad 5 with 6/128GB configuration is available for CNY 1,999 while doubling the storage will set you back CNY 2,299.
The Pad 5 Pro with 6/128GB configuration is priced at CNY 2,499, the 6/256GB option goes for CNY 2,799. Lastly, the top-specced 5G option with 8/256GB is priced at CNY 3,499.
Both tablets are available for pre-order in China. Its international availability has yet to be announced though.
