The Department of Health (DOH) announced that it has put on hold its plan to purchase four ‘high-end’ laptops for PHP 700,000.
“To date, the procurement transaction was put on hold pending the result of further market study and prevailing market price for these laptops,” said DOH Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega in a statement.
Vega also heads the agency’s administration and financial management team. He added that the laptops were supposed to be used in “knowledge management and information technology”.
The agency previously released its request to purchase that includes a list of the specs of the “2-in-1 high-end laptops”. However, upon closer inspection, the minimum specs were far from “high-end” with at least a 10th generation Intel Core i5 processor and at least Intel UHD graphics, to name a few of the listed specs.
Prior to this, the agency was under fire after the Commission of Audit released a report with “various deficiencies” in the DOH funds amounting to a whopping PHP 67.3 billion.
