Sony has just launched the SRS-NS7, its latest wireless neckband speaker and first to feature Dolby Atmos.
The SRS-NS7 has a separately sold WLA-NS7 Bluetooth transmitter that if coupled with BRAVIA XR televisions, can transmit Dolby Atmos audio to the speaker. However, the speaker itself can paired to a smartphone or any Bluetooth source. Moreover, it can connect to two devices at once.
The speaker also features a mic that can be used to take calls on the speaker.
Additionally, with the 360 Spatial Personalizer app, you can take pictures of your ears to create an HRTF map of your ears. This is then sent to the system to customize the Atmos sound to your ear and head shape.
The new neckband speaker boasts a dual-driver design with a single active driver and one passive radiator on both sides. These are angled upwards for optimal sound positioning.
The speaker itself has a fabric cover with a flexible neckband and features IPX4 splash resistance.
As far as battery goes, it is said to offer 12-hours of use. Meanwhile, a ten-minute charge is said to give you 60 minutes of playback.
The Sony SRS-NS7 is priced at USD 300, while the WLA-NS7 wireless transmitter is sold separately for USD 60. The new wireless neckband speaker is now available for pre-order.
