Apple Unveils New MacBook Pro Powered by M1 Pro and M1 Max

Apple has just launched the new MacBook Pro with the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets. These come in 14-inch and 16-inch options.

Both options feature a Liquid Retina XDR display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, and ProMotion technology which offers up to a 120Hz refresh rate.

Apple has trimmed down the bezels on both options which offer a larger screen. The 16-inch model now has a 16.2-inch display, while the 14-inch option has a 14.2-inch display.

At the helm and the highlight of the new MacBook Pro are the new M1 Pro and M1 Max, the company’s latest versions of its native Apple chipsets.

M1 Pro

The M1 Pro features up to a 10-core CPU with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores. This is accompanied by up to a 16-core GPU. The combination of both delivers 70% faster CPU performance than the M1 SoC. Additionally, the Pro delivers up to 200GB/s of memory bandwidth and supports up to 32GB of fast unified memory.

M1 Max

The M1 Max, on the other hand, features the same up to 10-core CPU but doubles the GPU with up to 32 cores for up to 4x faster GPU performance than M1. The Max has up to 400GB/s of memory bandwidth and up to 64GB of fast unified memory.

The Max also offers an enhanced engine that features two ProRes accelerators for even higher multi-stream performance.

In addition to the overall boost in performance, the new 14-inch model is said to offer 17 hours of video playback. Meanwhile, the 16-inch variant bumps this up to 21 hours of video playback.

The new MacBook Pro now also supports fast charging which is said to offer you a 50% charge in 30 minutes. They also support a wide variety of ports namely HDMI port, 3x Thunderbolt 4, SD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, Magsafe 3.
