It looks like Stuff Magazine’s Best Smartphone in the World, LG G2, will finally be dethroned by another phone from LG. This evening, April 7, LG Philippines launched 2 devices that are set to amaze and wow electronic consumers in the Philippines, the LG G Pro 2 an LG G2 Mini.
LG G Pro 2 is posed to dethrone the LG G2
Move over, LG G2, G Pro 2 is here and it looks awesome! The device boasts a 5.9-inch Full HD IPS display with highly sophisticated camera features and user-friendly features.
Its massive display is indeed big, but it’s every movie buffs’ and gamers’ dream phone. It is encased in almost-nil size bezels (3.5mm only). Apart from this, the G Pro 2 has 2 celebrated features – security via its much-improved Knock Code and kickass camera features.
The new G Pro runs on the latest 2.26Ghz Quad-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with 3GB RAM. (Oh-ehm-Ge!) It has a removable 3200mAh battery and pre-installed with the latest version of Android KitKat.
In terms of imaging, the 2nd iteration of G Pro has a 13-megapixel Full HD rear camera with OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization Plus) sensor, a step up of 20% versus last year’s LG G2’s OIS. The new G Pro can also take 4K Ultra video recording at up to 120 fps. This is truly revolutionary as some phones that can take such resolution usually has a threshold of 3o to 60 fps. Apart from this, its camera also has slow-motion playback with adjustable speed, Magic Focus, and Natural Flash. It also has flash for selfie functionality, a must have for selfie-addicts.
Other features of G Pro 2 are as follows:
- Mini View
- Dual Browser
- Much-improved window mode
- LTE
The LG G Pro 2 is now available for PhP32,990.
LG G2 Mini is the “affordablized” LG G2
The LG G2 Mini is miniaturized version of last year’s LG G2. It packs some of the premium features of the G2 to this compact, lighter and more affordable G2 Mini.
Unlike the G Pro 2, the G2 Mini packs a 4.7-inch qHD IPS display. It has a quad-core cpu and pre-installed with the latest version of Android KitKat.
“The compact G2 Mini offers design, hardware, and user experience previously unavailable in its class, making it a very attractive option for mid-tier markets,” said Mr. Kim. “It even adds new and fun features such as flash capability for selfies. With the G2 Mini, our objective is to allow a much larger consumer base to be able to experience the key benefits of the G2 UX in a smaller form factor.”

Knock, Knock…
Both devices feature Knock Code, a revolutionary security software module that asks users to enter a customized tapping or knocking pattern on the display, which becomes their own personal code. It works while the screen is off, and even when the windowed-case is put on.
