Samsung’s shift in strategy for its A-Series phones has been well-received by consumers here in the Philippines. That’s thanks to a combination of a good spec sheet and features that adding features that you’ll usually find in more premium devices, for a price that’s quite hard to resist. The Galaxy A50 is just one of the results of that formula, and I could tell you now that it’s one of the best in its price range. For a number of reasons. Here’s why. Specifications Design and Build Quality One of the things that Samsung did for its A-Series devices, was to introduce an almost uniform look for each one, which I think is a good thing. The Galaxy A50 sports a premium glossy finish that responds beautifully to light from any angle, making it quite a great subject for product photos. The device’s relatively small footprint makes one-handed use a…

After months of inactivity, Google has finally brought its Android Distribution Dashboard (a chart that shows the percentage of devices that run on each version of Android) back to life, with a bit of good news. Note : Data was collected during a 7-day period ending on May 7, 2019  Thanks to Project Treble, the company’s initiative that allows manufacturers to easily update their devices, Android Pie is now on 10.4% of Android Devices, and take note, at the same time that it took Oreo to reach 4%. Of course, 10.4% might look a little low on the surface, but hey, for an OS that’s just nine months old, it can actually be taken as a great feat, since you know, there are a lot of things going on under the word “Update.” The reason why the company stopped updating the dashboard is that it’s merely showing percentages, which wasn’t…

At this year’s I/O, Google announced its newest Pixel smartphones, with a focus on bringing the premium experience to more users at affordable price points. Both phones are primarily made of plastic,  and use Dragon Trail glass to protect the displays as opposed to Gorilla Glass. This is most likely to keep the prices down. Well, the good thing is they’ve decided to put a headphone jack, if that even matters to you. There’s also Active Edge, which allows you to activate the Google Assistant just by squeezing the sides of the phone. The Pixel 3A and Pixel 3A XL sport 5.6-inch and 6-inch OLED displays respectively, both with FHD+ resolution. Both also run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 octa-core CPU backed by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. As always, you don’t get a microSD card slot. The smaller variant packs a 3,000mAh battery, while the bigger one…

It’s an exciting week for realme, as the brand to launch two new devices along with its relaunch in China – the realme X, as well as a realme X Youth Edition or realme X Lite, as posted in their Weibo account. The launch is set to take place in Beijing, amidst a teaser of cyberpunk art with every billboard indicating “realme x”. The device is rumored to have an elevating selfie camera, similar to the OPPO F11 Pro, along with dual rear shooters. One of their teasers also indicated 91.2%, which is probably the screen-to-body ratio of the phone, and AMOLED, for an AMOLED Display. A photo of what is allegedly the device’s retail package has also surfaced online. Knowing the trend in packaging for its previous phones, this is most likely accurate. A photo of what is supposedly the actual device has also been posted by user 徐起Chase (realme’s…

Back when the Internet wasn’t as big of a thing as it is now, only a handful would even risk putting sensitive information such as credit card numbers online, due to the risks it entailed. Fast forward to today, and we’ve already put so much more in the hands of companies such as Facebook and Google. With privacy being a huge concern these days, it’s a time when we’re taking a look at the amount of information that we want to share with a particular entity, I mean, your dentist doesn’t really need to know where you were born right? and that’s where the technology called Blockchain comes in. Blockchain is a collection of records maintained in a cluster of machines not owned by any single entity. Each “Block” of data is connected to each other and “cannot” be hacked, as they say.  In financial transactions, it adds a layer…
