Verdict Both devices are great camera phones for casual snaps. Even without the aid of AI, there are instances when the Huawei P20 Lite actually performs at par and at times, even slightly better than the more expensive Zenfone 5, especially with managing noise in low light scenarios. On the downside, it does tend to over-accentuate the subject’s color at times, resulting to loss of detail. On the other hand, the Zenfone 5 produces more vibrant looking photos and is able to maintain a good level of detail without compromising color accuracy. The AI scene detection does most of the thinking for you, and  works quite well most of the time.  It does fall a little short in managing noise, especially in low light situations. For the time being, I’d say that it’s a draw as far as camera performance is concerned, but if it’s price to performance ratio as…

We’ve got many reasons to believe that ASUS Republic of Gamers has been teasing us with the upcoming successor to ASUS ROG GX501, the ROG GX502. The website of Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines was recently defaced by hackers. Earlier this morning, the website’s homepage is replaced with a text that details the hacker’s clamor to sign a petition they cooked up. Hackers claim that the airports should not be named after Ninoy Aquino under RA6639. According to the hackers, ” One can’t find a valid reason why the country’s main airports should be named after Ninoy…” What do you guys think about this? Are you going to sign their petition? Special thanks to Louie Diangson of Yugatech for the tip.

Cinematic rendering of cutscenes and even actual gameplay have always been a great deal and wish for many game developers.  Also known as ray tracing, this technology simulates lifelike rendering of lights and shadow for an immersive gaming experience. Currently, a lot of games’ 3D environment is achieved via rasterization, which isn’t actually a bad thing. If you want to load up some information about what rasterization is, you may want to check out this video. TL;DR – it’s all about pixels represented as three dimensions. With ray tracing, everything is about the play of rays, lights and shadows to present a photorealistic rendering of 3D environments. TL;DR on ray tracing – it produces very accurate reflections and refractions. Here’s a video to fully understand how this works. Today at Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, California, NVIDIA just jacked everyone up with their announcement of the availability of NVIDIA RTX Technology…

The more premium Zenfone 5z, which retails for 475 Euro, comes as the greatest shocker in the line-up. Armed with the latest Qualcomm…

We’ve used tons of gaming headsets in the past. Our most favorite so far is the ASUS ROG Centurion. You can check out review on this link. The only downside of the latter is its steep price.  Nevertheless, ASUS ROG Centurion is an excellent product that’s worth every penny. ASUS ROG Centurion is not for everyone though. At PhP12,000, you can already upgrade your RAM plus buy a rather more affordable headphone such as RAKK Guinna Gaming Headset. In this video, we feature PacoMNL’s unboxing of RAKK Guinna Gaming Headset. It’s a PhP795 gaming headset by a local company, RAKK. Check out PacoMNL’s review below. https://youtu.be/fr-toiIuWio Special thanks to Paco Santos of PacoMNL for allowing us to feature his review of this headphone.

It’s all about AI for Huawei last 2017; and looking at the way things are unfolding for the Chinese brand, it seems that it’s going to be one their major focus this 2018. Huawei Mate 10 is one of the best phones we reviewed in 2017. It was so good we thought that it deserved to be given an award. We’ve been vocal about our preference to Mate 10 than the Mate 10 Pro, but will we have a change of heart after being able to use the latter for 2 weeks? Here’s our full review. Mate 10 Pro’s overall design is devoid of similarity to the Mate 10. It is much easier to hold as it’s taller and slimmer, but it’s slippery and too delicate. Almost everything about it is made of glass, and such design is a like a doubled edged sword. It looks amazing but it requires a…

2017 is the best year of Gadget Pilipinas. We posted a total of 877 articles last year, and generated close to 600,000 pageviews based on our recent Google Analytics report. Our website was hit with several design and server issues in 2017, and it affected the overall performance of the site. The influx of new competitors in the industry – while we welcome this wholeheartedly – put us in a position to think of ways to “be different” in our campaign executions to please our audience, readers and advertisers. Our goal for 2018 is to close the year with 1,000,000 pageviews at a minimum. This may be small from our bigger competitors’ perspective in the industry, but it’s a huge feat for us to take. In order for us to do this, we can’t just simply rely on social media and video referrals. Our goal is to have a healthy…
