Samsung has announced that it has begun mass production of its latest 12-gigabit LPDDR5 mobile DRAM. The new RAM is optimized for AI and 5G features in future smartphones, this may include the upcoming Galaxy Note 10. Lee Jung-bae, VP of DRAM Product & Technology at Samsung revealed that the new LPDDR5 memory is built on the second-generation 10-nm class process. It will support UHD video recording and machine learning, on top of significantly extending  battery life. 12 Gb LPDDR5 DRAM can transfer 44GB data in a second when the memory is made into a 12GB package. It also uses up to 30% less power through integrating a new circuit design with enhanced clocking with clocking, training, and low-power feature. The company is also preparing a 16Gb LPDDR5  to supposedly “solidify its competitive edge in the global memory market”. Source

After a tease from Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi, we finally get to see the new color for the Redmi Note 7 series. The company has revealed the new shade, Mirror Flower Water Moon which is available for purchase in China. While it is a mouthful of a color, it is a machine translation of the symbols for the moon reflection on the water. The Mirror Flower Water Moon Redmi Note 7 comes in 6GB/64GB configuration for CNY 1,399 (around PHP 10,400) while the Pro is offered in 6GB/128GB configuration and costs CNY 1,599 (around PHP 11,900). Whether this color will be offered in other markets or remain a China-exclusive is unclear but it looks fresh. Source

PLDT continues to expand its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services in the country’s key urban centers. The Vivo S1 for India is set to feature the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset along with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, according to reports – a totally different device from the S1 for China. While as far as the camera goes, it will have a 32MP front camera and a triple rear camera setup. The latter is comprised of a 16MP main, 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. It will come with 128GB of internal storage and a large 4,500mAh battery with dual-engine fast charging. Xiaomi has registered a research and development (R&D) company in Tampere, Finland. It is officially registered as Xiaomi Finland Oy and a report mentions that it will focus on the development of camera technologies. Other points of focus for Xiaomi’s Finnish department will include Software R&D, IT systems, and telecommunications equipment. The CEO of Xiaomi Finland, David Arthur Felix has been appointed Managing Director of the new company. Two years ago, a partnership between Nokia and Xiaomi was signed. It was centered around licensing patents between the two companies. The expansion by the Chinese company might be a result of that partnership to some extent. Source

Following renders and leaked specifications, images of the Xiaomi Mi A3 and its retail box have surfaced online. The Xiaomi Mi A3, will reportedly come in white, blue, and black as seen in the box of the device. An actual photo of the phone was also posted, revealing a glossy back finish. The images also confirm a notched display for the front camera and a vertical triple rear camera setup in the upper left corner, with the Xiaomi logo at the bottom-left corner. The plastic film on the device reveals that the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665. It also has a 4030mAh battery and in-screen fingerprint sensor. In the community forums of Huawei UK, a user by Phil_Black revealed that a Beta Health App is live on the Chinese Huawei site. It is in this app that users have access to creating and adding new watch faces to the Huawei Watch GT. Logging into the site and getting access into the beta version of the app, however, does need a Chinese Huawei ID which requires a Chinese number. Once you have the beta version of the app,  you can uninstall the current health app and install the beta version. Apple has announced new and updated versions of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, sporting improvements to the display, as well as 8th Generation Intel processors. It seems that the company has also decided to discontinue the 12-inch MacBook Air. The MacBook Air received True Tone to its Retina display. This offers a more natural viewing experience. The price of the MacBook Air has also been lowered to USD 1,099 (about PHP 56,600). While the 13-inch MacBook Pro remains at USD 1,299 (about PHP 66,900), it has been updated with the latest 8th-generation quad-core processors. It also now features Touch Bar and Touch ID, a True Tone Retina display, and the Apple T2 Security Chip. Canon has just expanded its PIXMA Ink Efficient G Series with three new refillable ink tank system printers. These are the PIXMA Ink Efficient G6070 All-in-One, PIXMA Ink Efficient G5070, and PIXMA Ink Efficient Monochrome GM2070. These Printers combine a small footprint with automatic two-sided printing through an integrated-in-body ink tank design. They also introduce a new ink bottle design that drains readily into empty ink tanks with no need to squeeze during the refill process. A two-way channel in the ink bottle funnel regulates air pressure so that ink stops automatically once the maximum level is achieved. Canon has just launched its first instant cameras under its Mini Photo Printer line up. These are the iNSPiC [S] and iNSPiC [C]. The new cameras combine a compact mini printer and digital camera in one pocket-sized gadget. Users can also connect the cameras to their smartphones using the Canon Mini Print mobile app to print photos stored on the device or photo albums on social networking accounts. CAD-based renders of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Pro surfaced earlier this month, and gave us an idea of how the phones look like. Now, official Olixar cases of both versions on a UK retailer’s website of the upcoming Note 10 duo shows the design of the phones. Both Note 10 and Note 10 Pro will come with a vertically aligned camera set-up that sits on the top-left corner of the back.
