The world leader in advanced memory technology just announced a whopping 30.72 terabyte (TB) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Solid State Drive (SSD) – the PM1643. This model has double the capacity of the previously announced 15.36TB model. The PM1643 is made possible by building stacked layers of the new 512GB V-NAND chips. This drive can have staggering read and write speeds of up to 2,100 MB/s. Samsung manufactured initial quantities of the 30.72TB SSDs in January and according to a source, there have been plans of expanding this lineup this year with the 15.36TB, 7.68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, 960GB and 800GB versions.
