Apart from the 3-series handsets, TCL also announced another budget device named the Alcatel 1X, a device that’s lackluster on paper, even for a budget phone, but comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Though due to the specs, this one comes with the Go Edition installed. You get a 5.3-inch 18:9 screen with a resolution of 960 x 480, a MediaTek MT6739 quad-core processor, 1GB or 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage with microSD card support. Depending on where you’ll buy it, you get an 8MP or a 13MP rear snapper, along with a 5MP front camera. Other features include Dual SIM capability, NFC, USB Type-C, and a fingerprint sensor. The Alcatel 1X will be sold starting April, for a retail price of €100 for the single-SIM variant, and €110 for the dual SIM variant. Alcatel 1X Specs: 1.28GHz MediaTek MT6739 quad-core processor 1GB/2GB of RAM, 16GB of…

Apart from the budget-oriented 3-series handsets, TCL also announced the brand’s newest “flagship”, though I’m not really sure how they define that word, since the new Alcatel 5’s specs are mostly from the mid-range book. In any case, let’s leave them be and focus on the phone. It has a 5.7-inch, 18:9 HD+ IPS display, and is powered by the MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor. I know, it’s an odd choice given that there’s a bunch of newer chips out there. There’s 2GB/4GB of RAM, and 16GB/32GB of storage with microSD card support. The Alcatel 5 uses a 12MP sensor at the back with features like EIS, Light Trace, Slow Motion, and Video Story, complimented by a dual front-camera system composed of a 13MP main sensor, complimented by a 5MP sensor.  The device runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, and packs a 3,000mAh battery. Other features include Dual SIM capability, Bluetooth 4.2, FM…

All are also incorporated with fingerprint sensors, and Alcatel’s own facial recognition technology called Face Key, built on the OS’ standard Face Unlocking formula. Alcatel 3 Specs: 1.28GHz MediaTek MT6739 quad-core processor 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage expandable via microSD card 5.5-inch, 18:9 HD+ IPS LCD display 13MP rear camera, f/2.0, EIS 5MP front camera Fingerprint sensor NFC, USB Type-C, VoLTE Support Android 8.0 Oreo 3,000mAh battery Alcatel 3X Specs: 1.28GHz MediaTek MT6739 quad-core processor 2GB/3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of storage expandable via microSD card 5.7-inch 18:9 HD+ IPS LCD display 13MP (f/2.0) + 5MP (f/2.2, 120° wide-angle) rear cameras, EIS 5MP front camera Fingerprint sensor NFC, USB Type-C, VoLTE Support Android 7.0 Nougat 3,000mAh…

A new mid-range smartphone was introduced by Alcatel at CES 2018. The company didn’t reveal the actual tech specifications of the smartphone except for the 18:9 aspect ratio screen. But thanks to a leak from Roland Quandt, we now have  complete information about the new Alcatel 3V. The phone might go official in Europe for around US$ 218. The Alcatel 3V is equipped with a 2160x1080p FHD+ IPS LCD display with a 2.5D curved tempered glass on top. It runs on a Quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage with a dedicated micro SD card slot. The phone also features a  dual rear camera setup composed of a 16MP RGB sensor and a secondary 2MP sensor for depth sensing. It also boasts an 8MP fixed focus lens for selfies. It is dual SIM capable with 4G LTE and VoLTE on both SIM slots. The…

We got a lot of handset this year with names with a suffix, plus (+). It is implied that it is an upgrade from the previous models. Announced last February 2013, the Alcatel One Touch Idol X was dubbed as an ultimate upgrade from the previous One touch handsets. Just recently, the Idol X+ has been announced and factors such as weight, thickness and processor are yet to be considered. This is my review of Alcatel One Touch Idol X+, the first octa-core smartphone from Alcatel. Design The display of the One Touch Idol X+ is the same with last year’s Idol X. It is still 5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a beautiful 441 pixel density. Nevertheless, the screen of Idol X+ is now protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 unlike with the Idol X, that’s only protected by a mere scratch-resistant glass. I am immediately…

The Ironman Phone’s little brother is here—the Alcatel One Touch Idol Mini. I just received a review unit of the Idol Mini and I can say that I am impressed with the simplicity of it’s design. It is simple yet elegant. A lot of phones are being released with the word ‘mini’ as the smaller version of the regular sized phones, and it seems that Alcatel has joined the band wagon. Design and Specifications The Idol Mini is a 4.3 inch handset with the resolution of of 480×652 pixels. The screen is just right for me. I am used large screen phablets using both of my hands to text or email. But with idol Mini, i only need one hand for all of its operation. It fits perfectly in my pocket. It is slim and light to carry; and has a simple design on the front and an elegant metal…

After my awesome encounter with Alcatel’s One Touch Idol Ultra and One Touch Scribe HD, another smartphone I’ve got is the Alcatel One Touch Glory 2. Just like its predecessor, the Alcatel Glory 2 is both smart and pocket friendly entry-level smartphone. So, if you want a budget wise smartphone Alcatel Glory 2 is for you. Unboxing The box of the Glory 2 is the same as the packaging of the Idol Ultra and Scribe HD. The front of the box has the picture of the phone and the model on the upper part and the name of the brand on the lower right part of the box. At the back are the specifications of the phone and on the left side is bar code color of the unit. It also has the logo of Tour de France which says that Alcatel is an official partner. The Box Contains One…

It was last 1999 when I first used an Alcatel phone. I was in third year high school then. I forgot the phone model but it was an orange bulky safeguard-soap-shape like phone, probably one of the largest phones at that time. But of course that is already one of the high end phones during then and only a few have GSM phones. And now, I am using an Alcatel phone but this time I am using the thinnest smartphone in the market—the Alcatel One Touch Idol ULTRA 6033. Let’s take a look at this new phone from ALCATEL. After being out of the mainstream in the past few years, Alcatel made a big come back with their Alcatel One Touch Series phones. I am really excited to try it and to see for myself what Alcatel is really up to right now. Unboxing The box is made of hard…
