Apart from the iPhone XS and XS Max, Apple also announced a third iPhone during its event earlier this morning, which carries some notable features found in the XS and XS Max, but with a more affordable price tag and more color options. Meet the new iPhone XR. The iPhone XR is IP67 certified for water and dust resistance, and boasts a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD display (HD+ resolution). It’s also powered by the same A12 Bionic Chip in the iPhone Xs and Xs Max. At the back of the device is a single 12MP camera with a wide angle lens. And though not much has changed on the outside, except for a new color and a larger variant, these new devices do offer notable upgrades inside. Apple’s new iPhones are set to be unveiled this September 12. And as the day inches closer, more information about the new devices continue to surface online. The latest one is from a 9to5mac – allegedly a press render of the iPhone XS and its bigger sibling. Both will be offered in Gold, a color variant that was not available for the iPhone X. According to the source, there will be two variants, 5.8 and 6.5 inches. Both will have AMOLED displays, dual rear cameras, a new A12 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. There’s also talks about a third variant, which will have a 6.1-inch LCD screen, and only with a single rear camera. Good news for iPhone users! Power Mac Center has announced that it’s now offering repair services for damaged iPhone screens. It’s in fact, the first in the country to do so. Coverage includes cracked screens and broken displays or any related issues. The service is available for customers with an iPhone 6s or later, and can be availed at Power Mac Center branches in Glorietta 5 and The Annex at SM City North EDSA. You can be assured that an Apple Certified Engineer will handle the repairs, and that only genuine Apple parts will be used. Of course, there’s a turnaround time for repairs, and that depends on the availability of replacement stocks and the diagnosis. To give you an idea, prices start at PhP11,025, inclusive of diagnostics fee and replacement parts, and may vary depending on the unit. With Apple’s recent statement regarding the battery issues on older iPhone units, Power Mac Center issued a set of guidelines on how they determine whether a device is qualified for battery replacement: Devices must undergo diagnosis to check the battery condition and other internal and external physical/accidental damage or unauthorized modification that may or may not be visible to the naked eye. If such issues are found, the iPhone will be ineligible for the battery replacement. If, other hardware issues are found during the diagnosis, an Apple Certified Engineer will recommend a part/unit replacement accordingly. Customers are free to choose whether to proceed with the recommendation or not, if they decide to pull out, they will have to settle a diagnostic fee provided that the unit is out or void of warranty. The Apple PH website has now unveiled that the iPhone X, the company’s first attempt at a full-screen device, is coming to the Philippines on December 1, 2017. Apple has just announced the 3rd iteration of its Smartwatch, which brings a number new features such as cellular capabilities, as well as a new and more capable processing unit. The Apple Watch Series 3 can now function as a standalone device that allows you to make and receive calls. Apple has just announced their newest iPad Pro models in WWDC. Available in 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch models, these new tablets feature the world’s most advanced display along with the company’s newest A10X Fusion chip touted to deliver incredible performance. Apple didn’t just update it’s MacBooks, but also announced a new lineup of iMacs for this year’s WWDC. Except for the entry level model, all other new iMacs are now equipped with brighter retina displays (up to 43%) which can reproduce 1 billion colors. The 21.5-inch retina models will still offer 4K resolution, while the 27-inch models can go up to a whopping 5K resolution (5,120 x 2,880 pixels). All the new iMacs now come with Intel Kaby Lake processors, and up to 32GB of RAM on the 21.5-inch models, and 64GB on the 27-inch models. Storage-wise, the 27-inch models and the top tier 21.5-inch model will come with Fusion Drives as standard along with 50% faster SSDs. Apple has give its MacBook and MacBook Pro lineup a much needed refresh. Not much for the look, but more of an internal upgrade of sorts, though minor. The new MacBook and MacBook Pros now boasts Intel’s 7th Generation Kaby Lake processors which uses a slightly tweaked version of the 14nm manufacturing process. This in turn provides a boost in CPU clock speed, and supports native acceleration for encoding and decoding 4K video. At it’s annual WWDC earlier today, Apple also announced the latest version of its operating system for MacBooks and iMacs, macOS High Sierra. Well, the name is as is, at least according to them.
