At F8, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the company’s latest roadmap and what’s in store for millions of users of its services, with a focus on keeping things more secure, while continuing to build up on ways to interact better privately with your network. For Messenger, well there’s quite a long list of what’s coming, including a new design, and an improved user experience, just to name a few. Ever wished you could go back in time so that you could take back something you’ve said over Messenger? well, the good news is you don’t need to go that far anymore… because Facebook has already begun its rollout of the Unsend button or as they call, “Remove for Everyone.” The Unsend button (obviously) lets you take un-send any messages within 10 minutes of being delivered. That means you have 10 minutes to ponder about anything you say.  Oh, and using the feature also notifies the recipient. Thought you could get away huh? :) To prevent bullies from exploiting the feature, unsent messages will be retained for a certain period of time if reported, giving the company a chance to review them for possible policy violations. Tired of seeing posts which ask you to react to or share a post for engagement? then here’s some good news for you – Facebook has recently announced a new policy that should clean things up a bit on your timeline. Engagement baiting is a popular tactic which involves the use of headlines tailored to get readers to interact with a post in some way. On Facebook, these are usually posts that start with “Like this if..” or “Tag someone who..”, well you get the idea. Interaction increases the engagement quotient, and makes these pages rank higher. Moving forward, any post that asks you to engage with them in any way, will be demoted away from your view. The developers have already reviewed and categorized hundreds of these posts to create a machine learning model, which will analyze and demote posts accordingly. A warning period i currently being issued to…

“Once you’re connected, you’re connected, and you don’t want to look back.” Peter Bithos, Globe Senior Adviser for Consumer Business. In an article in the New York Times published on August 20, 2013, it is said that Facebook aims to cut the cost of basic internet services on mobile phone phones, particularly in developing countries like the Philippines. Internet.org, a coalition which aims to provide access to everyone, together with tech giants like Samsung, Nokia, Qualcomm, and Ericsson, will also be working together as partners of this kind of initiative. In order to accomplish their goals, these companies try to simplify their phone applications and improve the components of phones and networks. Just got a free Gold Xbox Live Membership and I was trigger-happy using some of its new features – Facebook and Twitter via Xbox Live. I tried the mentioned features and I must say that it worked pretty well. Facebook and Tweetdeck even recognized the application/device I used to update my status. (See pictures below) Get an Xbox 360 now, sign up for an Xbox Live account and try it. Be sure that you are playing legit (non-pirated) games and using an authorized hard drive because it might ban your Xbox Live account. Before I forget, other than being so exciting and social-life-enhancing, playing multiplayer games via Xbox Live performed decently on a PLDT Plan 999 (768 kbps) connection. My brother and I tried 2 games – Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Street Fighter 4 – and they truly rock! Game on!
