MediaTek has officially unveiled its new gaming-centric SoCs – the Helio G90 series or namely the Helio G90 and G90T. These utilize an octa-core combination of two ARM Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55s alongside the Mali-G76 GPU. Both the G90 and G90T are built on TSMC’s 12nm FinFET process and can be clocked up to 2.05GHz. They can also support up to 10GB LPDDR4X RAM. The new chipsets feature HyperEngine game technology, bringing support for a variety of functions that should improve the overall gameplay experience. Among them is a networking engine that can automatically combine WiFi and LTE connectivity to boost signal strength. Dual WiFi connectivity support is also another feature in the new MediaTek Helio G90 series. This allows a single device to connect simultaneously to two routers for a more reliable connection and decreased latency. In addition, HDR 10 support and display touch acceleration are also present…

MediaTek has unveiled its newest mid-range chip, the Helio P65, equipped with faster cores, and a more capable NPU for AI tasks. The Helio P65 uses two high performance Cortex-A75 cores, along with six high efficiency Cortex-A55 cores. It uses a Mali-G52 GPU, in comparison to the more powerful G72 used on the Helio P60 and P70. The NPU is also touted to be two times faster than the previous one, and 30% faster than a competitor’s. The chip supports 48MP Quad Bayer sensors, multi-frame noise reduction, and bokeh shots for up to two cameras. It also supports H.265 format, EIS for videos, and camera-based face unlock. For recording – it’s 1080p/60fps at max. P65 can do dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.0.  Sadly, there’s no support for Dual Channel LPDDR4x RAM. We’re expecting to see this chip in mid-range devices, though most likely not in the upper category.…

A new MediaTek chip has been spotted in popular benchmarking site, Geekbench, and is rumored to be headed to MWC 2018. Named MTK P60 MWC Demo. it runs on Android Oreo 8.1.0 and 4GB of RAM. Judging from the Single-Core score, the chipset will most likely be too high for a Cortex A53. This octa-core processor can also competitively run with the Snapdragon 660. Source (in Chinese) via

MediaTek Inc. announced its next generation Wi-Fi chipset portfolio, custom built to drive innovation and performance for connected smart home and office device makers. The MediaTek MT7686, MT7682, and MT5932 will deliver high levels of integration with low power consumption for applications such as home appliances, home automation, smart gadgets, and IoT devices and cloud connectivity. The product family consists of highly integrated single chip solutions featuring an application processor, a low-power 1T1R 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi subsystem and a Power Management Unit. The application processor subsystem contains ARM Cortex-M4 MCU with floating point unit (FPU). All three were designed with a focus on core principles essential to IoT application functionality, including deep sleep, fast wake-up and reliable data connectivity. “As IoT and the connected home become more sophisticated, greater demands will be put upon the chipsets for our devices,” said Yao Bo, Co-Founder and COO, BroadLink. “The new Wi-Fi chipset…

Last July 25, Cherry Mobile introduced four powerful quad-core phones through an exclusive event at One Esplanade in Pasay City. A MediaTek quad-core chip and remarkable screens set the Cosmos series better than they previously launched. Luckily, we got to experience Cherry Mobile Cosmos X. Watch the unboxing video to prepare you for this detailed review. The Form The physical appearance of the Cherry Mobile Cosmos X resembles the Alcatel Idol Ultra sans the capacitive buttons. This is one of the few phones that Cherry launched without capacitive buttons. Instead, the Philippines’ fruit company opted for soft keys, similar to what you can find on Nexus 4. Cosmos X packs a 4.7 in SUPER AMOLED HD Display underneath a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 screen with an extra-high density of 320 PPI and 5 multi-touch points. With a Super AMOLED HD Display, you can easily see its difference compared to…
