Microsoft has just unveiled the latest addition to its family of tablets – the Surface Go is basically a toned down version of its more powerful sibling, the Surface Pro. The Surface Go has a 10-inch display with a resolution of 1800 x 1200 pixels. It’s powered by a Pentium Gold 4415Y processor, along with up to 8GB of RAM. For storage, you have two options – 64 GB eMMC or 128 GB SSD. It initially runs on Windows S, but you can upgrade it to a full version of Windows 10. As far as connectivity is concerned, you get a USB Type-C port, a headphone jack, a Surface Connect port, a Surface Type Cover port, and a card reader. For now, only the Wi-Fi variant will be available, with the LTE version coming out some time this year. As usual, Microsoft will be offering a number of handy accessories for the…

Qualcomm has already made its intentions to creep into the x86 PC realm pretty clear. Windows on ARM is already happening, with some devices, like the ASUS “Primus” even in production stages. A newly unearthed Qualcomm job posting, for an engineer now sheds some light on just how serious Microsoft is looking into ARM. Apparently, the Redmond giant is already busy testing Qualcomm chips for a wide range of devices, ranging from the pretty apparent ultra-portables and tablets, all the way to AR, VR and even desktop PC offerings. This development does make a lot of sense, given that Qualcomm also seems to be doubling-down on its ARM lineup for Windows use. Besides the Snapdragon 835, originally used for early development work, there is now a Snapdragon 850- a more powerful variant of the SD835, as well as the Snapdragon 1000. The latter seems to be particularly interesting, since it is…

Storage options can go from a 256GB to a…

Microsoft didn’t spend a lot of time going into detail with their newest console, the Xbox One X at E3, but rather focused more in announcing a number of new and promising titles (at least by the looks of it). Xbox One X The new Xbox One X is basically a beefier version of the Xbox One, and will be available on November 7 with an SRP of $499. As for the specs, it reportedly uses a CPU with 8 custom x86 cores clocked at 2.3GHz, and a GPU with 40 custom compute units, and 12GB of GDDR5 Memory. Backward Compatibility with Original Xbox Games The folks at Redmond also announced that they’re gearing up their backward compatibility program to include original Xbox games, which is great news for those who love to play the classics. Some games will be updated for Xbox One X It was also announced that…

Will this country’s obsession with things that are related to or somehow connected to “sticks” ever end? Maybe. But for now, it seems like there are plenty of stuff that are so much better when they are “on-a-stick” — or so it seems. PLDT today announced a breakthrough partnership that involves top entertainment corporations in the U.S. as well as home computing desktop Microsoft, in a move to launch a new gadget that’s intended to turn any TV into a personal computer. Dubbed the PLDT TVolution Stick, it’s a variation of the Intel Compute Stick that was first announced locally a few months back, and joins the first OTT (over-the-top) device from PLDT HOME which was aimed at raising the bar in terms of both home entertainment and home computing. According to PLDT VP and HOME Marketing Director Gary Dujali, the aforementioned Intel Compute Stick launch was the signal needed…

If you thought buying a new phone or a new tablet was hard, wait until you have to buy your spouse–or at least, a significant other–a gift for Valentine’s Day. Yes, it’s old and tired and mostly a cliché, but we’d be lying if we said most girls (and guys) didn’t expect to receive anything from their partners on this once-a-year occasion. So what should you do? We asked around, and one of the answers we got came from Microsoft. Surprisingly, the company came up with some sound and rather convincing relationship advice. According to the software giant, the key to giving the perfect Valentine’s gift lies in planning — and actually executing — a surprise for your partner. What kind of surprise? The kind that ends up in the two of you going someplace where you can leave the troubles of home and work behind. Microsoft apparently conducted a…

No one can stop the constant evolution of technology. Last September 18 at The Fairmont Hotel, Microsoft announced its partnership with Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) to transform organizations through innovative technologies. With this, FINEX can depend on advanced technology as a strategy for business. Like it or not, Microsoft’s enterprise-grade solutions can guide FINEX when it comes to productivity, which is the first step to wonderful business results. “Technolgy provides efficiency, productivity and consistency to any service or manufacturing business,” ICT Committee Chairman of FINEX Brian Hachez said. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Managing Director Karrie Ilagan claimed that it is Microsoft’s ‘priority to transform businesses through our family of class-leading devices and services like the recently launched Office…

Mass Effect 2

We loved the first franchise of Mass Effect and we shall definitely love the sequel. Yes, our beloved Commander Shepard was “killed in action” in ME1, but we were wronged! He will be back for a yet another story but that’s for you to find out. I’m pretty sure that ME2 will be packed with improvements and lots of futures.

Windows 7 is finally out and it’s multitouch capability is topnotch! However, Microsoft will definitely have a hard time convince a lot of people to patronize multitouch in laptops with capacitive displays because some are so expensive. However, Microsoft recently unveiled 5 prototype next generation mice, which the salient feature is multi-touch. These are the five prototype mice: FTIR (Frustrated Total Internal Reflection) Mouse Orb Mouse Cap (capacitive) Mouse Side Mouse Arty (articulated) Mouse View the video demo of the prototype mice ( enjoy the cool techno soundtrack too). httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3PZkpQThek

The future is truly “here”. Microsoft recently announced their foldable tablet, the Microsoft Courier. Can this kill Kindle? The said device is already in its “late prototype” stage. I’ve watched the introductory video and I was really amazed with how Microsoft presented it with implicit positioning as an Ipod Touch (3rd generation) and Kindle 2 killer. Microsoft Courier has a camera, 2 multi-touch screens, less hard buttons and enveloped with eye-candy design. Watch the video and get “awesomized” by it as well! httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmIgNfp-MdI
