The Strix GL702ZC is one of the very first gaming notebooks in the ROG lineup to be powered by AMD’s Ryzen processors. And they made sure to put one of the most powerful in their own list, the 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen 7 1700. ASUS has just announced a trio of motherboards for AMD’s X399 Platform featuring Ryzen Threadripper processors. AMD along with Game Developers Stardock and Oxide Games, has just announced the completion of the optimization for the game Ashes of the Singularity for Ryzen processors. Launched a year ago, the game now displays a significant improvement in performance with up to 30% increase in the “Average Frames Per Second All Batches” in-game benchmark in DX12. This places the Ryzen 7 1800X in elite levels of performance for the game. Test System The system that was used had an 1800X paired with DDR4-2933 memory at Full HD resolution and High Preset setting for image quality. During the test, the updated game as well as the in-game benchmark showcased an increase of 26% for “Average Frames Per Second Large Batches”, and up to 33 percent in “Average Frames Per Second Normal Batches” in comparison with the previous version of the game. AMD has finally lifted the curtain on its much anticipated Ryzen chips, and what we’re seeing here is definitely the makings of an epic comeback, at least for now. Ahead of the official launch scheduled for March 2, the company revealed vital information for three of its high tier processors, the Ryzen 7 series (The mid and lower tier Ryzen 5 and 3 chips will ship later this year). Touted as the fastest 8-core processor in the market as of the moment, the top of the line Ryzen 7 1800X costs $499 (around PhP25k) and runs at 3.6GHz (boosts to 4GHz), with 8 cores and 16 threads. At least by what AMD’s figures state, it outperforms the Intel Core i7-6900K (which costs around $1,089) by 9 percent on Cinebench, for half the price.
