These days, it’s a contest of who’s smartphone can fit more screen into a slimmer and smaller body. As such, companies like Vivo have invested a lot of its resources in long-term research and development into improving the displays for its smartphones. In fact, its notch and screen advancements are progressive, as shown by the V9 and X21’s 19:9 FullView Display. The notch has evolved every three months on average, reducing its footprint and giving users more room for content. “Daring to pursue true perfection, while continuously creating the surprising.” Vivo is the first global brand that was able to completely remove the notch – The NEX’s 6.59-inch Ultra FullView Display with a 19.3:9 aspect ratio delivers an astonishing 91.24% screen-to-body ratio, which was made possible by placing the sensors right under the display, and creating a pop-up mechanism for the front camera. This year, the recently-launched V11 sports…

These days, one thing that matters a lot to consumers is screen size. In this age where mobile gaming and entertainment are rapidly evolving, the more room for content you have, the more immersive the experience gets. Vivo is a company that knows and has made efforts to keep up with this trend. The new Vivo V11’s Halo FullView Display, is a concrete example of such. Here are seven reasons as to why it matters. Visual Amusement – With a massive 6.41-inch Super AMOLED Halo FullView Display, you have more space for icons and widgets, and almost any type of content be it a game, a movie, or a photo are showcased with stunning clarity. Taking Photos – A bigger screen gives more room for more options and functions, plus a more comfortable experience of browsing photos you’ve taken. Watching films – A 3D curved body design that blends the…

IDC report is finally out, and while it is important to note of the top mobile brands in terms of smartphone shipments, it is equally vital to look at what helped to make this happen. If you take a look at the chart that IDC posted last October 1, ultra low-end and low-end devices dominate the price band spectrum of the industry. A year later, you would notice a significant shift in the spectrum where ultra low-end decreased, while both low-end and mid-range increased. Now, why are more Filipinos able to buy mid-range smartphones this year than last year? To understand this, we had to ask an investments and economics expert, Migs Lopez of Critical Index. Migs shared with us that the changes we are seeing this year in the smartphone consumer landscape have something to do with Filipinos’ purchasing power, TRAIN law, and inflation. TRAIN Law Effect The Filipino…

Vivo has announced its plans to spearhead the development of pre-commercial 5G devices by introducing ground-breaking 5G software and hardware based on the Vivo NEX series. The company has already completed the initial development of 5G smartphone software and hardware. Running on the X50 modem from Qualcomm, Vivo has already finished initial architecture planning, 3D placement stacking, RF /antenna designs and optimized battery space within NEX to deliver 5G capabilities. In fact, the 5G version of the NEX has already passed the first phase of protocol and signaling tests with Keysight UXM 5G Signaling. The next step would be IODT tests with 5G infrastructure and networking equipment. The company is pushing to launch its first batch of commercial 5G smartphones by 2019. The 5G version of the NEX supports the non-standalone architecture (NSA) model, which includes dual connection for both LTE and New Radio (NR) based on 3GPP Release 15 Standards.…

Vivo’s conquest for the mid-range segment continues with the launch of the V11. It combines the formula of a new design, a very capable processor, AI-powered optics, and a ton of other features to create, what seems to be the company’s most well-rounded device to-date. I was able to spend some time with a review unit, and here are my first thoughts. Unboxing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2umh6m7HZVs Specifications Beautiful. No, Seriously. For the V11, Vivo has decided to go for some changes in the design – starting with the notch, which is now much smaller when compared to the V9. Of course, that also improves the phone’s screen-to-body ratio, and though just slightly, gives you more screen. Next, they went outside of the conventional colors, and used a gradient for the back panel. Using what they call color fusion, it’s basically a mix of a sleek black and glossy finish, and a glittery…

Apart from the V11, Vivo also had a surprise for its fans, as the brand also announced the launch of the Vivo V11i! The Vivo V11i has a slightly smaller 6.3-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen that also uses the Halo Notch, and is powered by the MediaTek Helio P60 chip, along with 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage expandable with a microSD card. It’s finally here. Vivo’s newest mid-ranger that is. The new Vivo V11 is in many ways, inspired X21’s capabilities, such as a more powerful processor, AI-assisted optics, packed into a premium housing that exhibits elegance and style. The V11’s rear panel utilizes color fusion, which combines a glittery section with a sleek glossy finish to create a harmonious look that’s perhaps one of the most eye-candy we’ve seen from the brand. The 6.41-inch Halo FullView display also utilizes a smaller notch, improving the phone’s screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage with microSD card support. It runs on Vivo’s Funtouch OS 4.5 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo and packs a 3,400mAh battery capable of dual engine fast charging. Unlike many of Vivo’s previous devices, the V11 does not have a dedicated Hi-Fi chip for improving the…

After revealing the V11 as its newest smartphone to be launched in the Philippines, Vivo has now confirmed a few details about its upcoming device. For starters, the Vivo V11 will have 6GB of RAM, which should be enough even for heavy multi-tasking. It will also have 64GB of storage, expandable with a microSD card up to 256GB. Like the X21, the V11 will also feature in-display fingerprint scanning, along with AI-powered optics, which means there’s likely scene detection and AI-assisted beautification. The Vivo V11 is set to launch on September 11, 2018. As always, we’ll be there to cover the event, and give you access to the latest updates regarding the brand’s newest flagship in the country.

For its next smartphone, Vivo is set on introducing a new screen design that’s sleek, cutting-edge, and functional. A display that’s a step above its competition. The brand has been continuing to innovate with the bezel-less design in its recent smartphones. The V9 is a perfect example, with its 90% screen to body ratio, along with the X21, which took things a step further with its in-display fingerprint scanner, and the NEX, with its 8MP elevating front camera. Vivo has been teasing its next smartphone, which will probably have the same in-display fingerprint scanner, and perhaps, a new screen that’s set to give you more room for content. Just what exactly do they have in store for us consumers? we’ll find out soon enough.

It looks like Vivo is gearing up for the launch of its next mid-range device. Just recently, the company has posted a teaser on its Facebook page, showing the phrases “something out of this world is brewing”, “Go beyond”, and “Arriving soon”. It also shows a spiral galaxy that appears as a fingerprint. A hint that this new device will also have an in-display fingerprint scanner. What’s more interesting is that a few days ago, a teaser was also posted online about the upcoming V11 Pro, which is set to be launched on September 6. So this might be a hint of its local launch (maybe just the V11 though). Or, if we think  in a more out of the box manner, could it even be the NEX or the newly announced X23? The V11 Pro is rumored to come with the Snapdragon 660 processor, along with 6GB of RAM,…

Earlier today, we posted an article regarding the upcoming  Vivo X23. Now, details about the phone has already been posted on the company’s Chinese website. In fact, it’s also available for pre-order. Looking at its design, the X23 features a glossy finish like the X21, only now, it has a more metallic vibe. The position of the dual rear cameras remain the same. The phone boasts a screen-to-body ratio of 91.2%, thanks to the noticeably smaller notch. None of the other specs were revealed, but there’s mention of AI, which probably refers to AI-assisted cameras. Then there’s 3D, which probably means 3D facial recognition. Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without the in-display fingerprint scanner that’s shown in one of the graphics. The X23 is expected to run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600-series chip, presumably the Snapdragon 660 or 670, along with 8GB of RAM. It’s also rumored to boast…

Vivo’s next X-series device, the X23, has just been showcased in a Live TV show. It also revealed the front of the phone, with what looks to be the same design language, only with a smaller notch. The Vivo X23 is expected to come with a 6.4-inch display with possible FHD+ resolution, along with an in-display fingerprint scanner. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 670, along with 8GB of RAM. It might also come with the same 12MP + 5MP that’s on the NEX, enhanced with AI-capabilities. Don’t worry, as the actual launch is supposedly happening today, so stay tuned. Source

Vivo has apparently sent out a save the date card which also serves as a teaser for its next smartphone. And while there really isn’t that much in the image, the caption “Experience the 11 on 06.09.2018” hints that this device could be the Vivo V11 Pro. The thumb mark also indicates that the device will have an in-display fingerprint sensor like the X21. Rumor has it that it will run on a Snapdragon 660 SoC, along with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 3,400mAh battery, and Android 8.1. It will have the same 12MP + 5MP rear camera system from the NEX, while the front will have a new 25MP sensor, presumably with AI-assisted beautification. In any case, all will be revealed on September 6, so stay tuned. Source
