Xiaomi has brought in a new mid-range device for its Filipino fans to enjoy, the Redmi Note 5 with an 18:9 FHD+ display, dual rear cameras with dual pixel PDAF, and AI-assisted scene detection and beautification. As Xiaomi would put it, it is their most powerful Redmi ever. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, combined with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that can be expanded with a microSD card. It runs on MIUI 9.5 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo, and packs a 4,000mAh battery. At the rear is a dual camera system with  Dual Pixel PDAF and AI scene detection – composed of a 12MP main sensor,  along with a 5MP secondary sensor. Today marks another fruitful day for Xiaomi, as it celebrated the launch of its newest smartphone to be offered in the Philippine market, the Redmi Note 5. Wait, what the heck is MIUI 9.5? It’s Xiaomi’s heavily customized user-interface based on the Android Nougat 7.0. Granted it’s coming from a 2-year old operating system, still we give props to Xiaomi for putting these on over 30 of its devices including discontinued ones such as the Xiaomi Mi Mi3 launched in 2013. Xiaomi has recently launched its newest mid-range devices in India – The Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro. Both sport 5.99-inch 18:9 FHD+ displays, and pack 4,000mAh batteries. Redmi Note 5 Pro is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It’s equipped with dual rear cameras composed of a 12MP + 5MP sensor, (Primary + Depth Sensing), along with a 20MP front camera. The device runs on MIUI 9 on top of Android Nougat, and is the first from the brand to feature Face Unlock.
