Plextor has just unveiled its M8V Plus series SSDs – the M8VC Plus 2.5 and the M8VG Plus M.2 2280. The M8V Plus series SSDs build on the success of the M8V SSD which was well-received with up to 1TB of storage and 96-layer 3D NAND memory.

Plextor M8VC Plus

The M8V Plus SSDs are equipped with SMI SM2258 controllers and KIOXIA 96-layer BiCS FLASH 3D flash memory. The two deliver read/write speeds of up to 560/520 MB per second and random read/write speeds of up to 90,000/88,000 IOPS.

The two new SSDs feature RAID engine and data shaping technologies for longer lifespans and longer-lasting stability. They come in capacities from 128GB to 1TB.

The new SSDs are built with Low-Density Parity-Check error correcting code technology. This helps reduce data errors and an equal increase in data integrity.

The M8V Plus SSDs come with a suite of proprietary Plextor software such as:

  • PlexCompressor – optimizes storage space by automatically compressing files that haven’t been opened for at least 30 days
  • PlexVault – keeps valuable data secure, including data located on a shared computer
  • Plexturbo – sports intelligent caching technology that reduces the number of unnecessary write cycles to extend the lifespan
  • Plextool – a proprietary toolbox that provides an easy-to-use interface for monitoring the status of the SSDs, including temperature, firmware upgrade, data integrity, and security.
